We are a family amusement, sports and fitness center specializing in roller skating and the sale of roller skates and related supplies. We also specialize in having birthday parties and other types of special events. We are a “Community Institution”.
We provide private and group skating instruction to children, families and adults. We provide regular programmed skating sessions geared to help people improve their skating skills. We aspire to help people improve their cardio vascular function, lose weight and develop stamina for a healthy heart. We are an African-American owned and operated community institution and we take pride in our family’s customer service skills which makes many of our customers come back again and again.
We are on a mission to capture the attention, interest and hearts of school systems and organizations that cater to and service children, to convince them that skating would be an excellent alternative to combat childhood obesity. We market our services to the community, to schools, to children and family service organizations, to church groups with our mission to ensure the safety and well-being of children. To provide a place where children and families are taught by example that conduct and a code of ethics is a necessary building block in becoming a good citizen and that roller skating provides numerous benefits for the mind, body and spirit. To become an integral part of the solution to a problem that is affecting children in such negative ways.
Skating and the will to perfect the skill of skating is an excellent way for children to interact in a non confrontational way. Statistics show that when children are given structure, leadership and direction they will follow. Kids want to believe and they want to belong. We want Rich City kids to believe they are capable; that they have talent and they have skills. We are in the business of building self confidence and self esteem. One by one we help children stay off the streets and stay out of trouble while helping to condition the mind that they can come together without conflict.
Let us not underestimate the power of peer pressure. Let us not forget, that children too suffer from stress and that stress producing conditions takes its toll on children as well as adults. We at Rich City know that roller skating is a stress reducer. As a matter of fact, roller skating can help to produce the endorphins that are released in the brain usually through exercise and illegal drug use and we are basically trying to hook the children on skating before they are introduced to the ills that lurk on the streets of America. Why not let skating be their drug of choice.
We want to convince the community that the “Institution” of Roller Skating must be
maintained and nurtured so that the “Institution” remains intact for generations to come. We want the community to know that we are here to help by providing an institution that will act as a safe haven and learning tree for many years to come.
